The Blue Pelican
Located in the heart of Hatteras Village

Local owner/artist Jennifer Foster Johnson grew up in Hatteras Village, less than a mile from her brand-new gallery. Opened Thanksgiving 2005, Blue Pelican Gallery offers Jenn's photography (including framed & unframed prints, notecards and even puzzles from her photographs) and one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry and candles. In her work, Jenn strives to capture the natural beauty of the Outer Banks, with a focus on the "true" natives of the island, its birds and wildlife. Blue Pelican Gallery also features pottery by Antoinette Gaskins Mattingly (4th generation Hatteras Island artist), realistic and primitive artwork (including ceramic tiles) by Stephanie Kiker , handcrafted gift items (vary by season) by Kathy Price, and wire and marble sculptures by North Carolina artist Jackie Jones. Truly a family affair, Blue Pelican Gallery also features fish prints by Jenn's children.

Wendy Sisler has had a life-long passion for jewelry. Her studio is a welcoming place where customers can observe Wendy at her art or create made-to-order beads themselves for one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings. While Wendy attributes much of her own skills to what she has learned from master glass makers across the country, her greatest inspiration will always be the ever changing natural beauty of Hatteras Island.
